Une Promenade

Just about every evening I take a walk with one or more of my neighbors. Tonight it was with Beatrice & Aurua. We started out as the village clock struck nine. The bell on the tower tolls the hour twice, about  five minutes apart, just in case you did not catch it the first time. It then chimes once on the half hour. The familiar sound of la cloche is just one of the aspects of village life that I hold so dear.

Did you notice how blue the sky still is at 9 pm?
In fact the sun was only begining to set & the light & shadows were so beautiful.

The colors of the flowers took on a special glow.

The wheat fields were truly a golden hue. They are starting to cut the blé now.

So it was nice to see it one last time before it is cut & bundled up in the round boules.

Then back to the bridge & chez moi as the sun was now going down or coucher du soleil.
It was time for me to close the shutters & go to bed too.

Bonne nuit et bon rêve!

And if your dreams happen to be about France, I am linking up with Paulita at her Dreaming of France weekly meme.

The village I went to yesterday was permanently 2.40.

  2. Sally, I love that you go for walks with your neighbors. So many people go to France and only socialize with other ex-pats. That bell tower picture with the very blue sky is gorgeous.

    1. Paulita, my friends here are almost all French. When we arrived over 20 years ago there were no " ex- pats" here so we had no choice but I would not have it any other way!

  10. What gorgeous shots, and how lovely your walks must be. The light so pretty- I love the second shot of the field, and the flowers punched out against the wall.

  13. Quand le soleil se met de la partie et nous offre une pareille lumière, comment ne pas réussir nos photos. Ici, c'est vraiment génial.
    Merci.
    Belle fin de semaine.

  15. Sally,

It's all so very charming and magical! That sky is hypnotically dreamy. I can identify with many of the wonders of village life here on Crete. Thanks so much for some French flair, too!
