Amy's Bakery

One of the many highlights of our NY visit was a trip to Amy's Bakery, where our son, Jack, a school teacher by day, works part time.

All the bread is super good, especially the Semolina with Golden Raisins and Fennel, & the Chocolate Rolls with Cherries. Yummm!!
Thanks Liz, Jack, & Nefi for such a warm welcome. We really enjoyed all of our treats!
By the way Amy's Bakery isn't wonderful just because our son works there. They have been credited with the best bread in NYC by The New York Times, Gourmet Magazine,
Martha Stewart, to name just a few.

  4. Oh Yum!
Your son is smart Sally... getting part time hours somewhere both delicious and of artisan quality is great experience!
A few years ago after I left teaching and wanted no more than 9 hrs work on the side I found the most fab artisan bakery in my area and whilst there found a gallery and other opportunities rolled out that led to my residency on seeds. When teaching in schools I never had any such opportunities arise.
Something about the integrity of this bakery, the people it attracted... it was such an enriching experience...and I still go there for my morning coffee and sourdough loaves!
Bread making the true way is such honest work... and an art form!
Im going to go look at this bakery site now!

  5. Very nice picture, Sally. I'll have to invade it one of these days, as I rarely get decent bread and could use something palatable.
